pelvic health

Pelvic Health concerns are far too common and rarely talked about. Many people suffer silently without realizing that there are effective, evidence-based treatment solutions.

We hope to empower individuals to find real-life, conservative solutions for pelvic pain, pelvic girdle problems, painful intercourse, bladder and bowel incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.

Pelvic floor is a collection of muscles that are situated at the pelvis bottom. It provides physical support for our internal organs, contributes to core strength, and aids in normal bowel and bladder routines. These muscles however, can become overactive or weak, which may contribute to dysfunction. Pelvic floor dysfunction can emerge in symptoms like: urinary and bowel incontinence, urinary urgency and frequency, pelvic pain, and pelvic organ prolapse.

Our trained physiotherapists can assess whether your symptoms are a result of overactive/weak pelvic floor muscles with an examination. This pelvic exam will allow us to determine how the muscles are moving, quantify its strength and identify painful areas.

An internal exam is not always necessary depending on your symptoms, and our pelvic floor physiotherapist will be able to determine this during an initial assessment. Although an internal exam is recommended, it is always up to the patient whether they wish to complete one. Once our therapist has determined the root problem, your tailored treatment plan will be created.
